Understanding the value of education and its costs, I have decided to start a scholarship to ease some of the financial strain from tuition, books, parking and other financial expenses. Obtaining an education shouldn't be any more strenuous than the classes you take. This is why I value people who think the same and are willing to take the initiative and put forth a little more effort. So I am pleased to be offering you this chance at a $500 scholarship, to help you balance any financial needs. In order to qualify for this scholarship, you must be an applicant either already enrolled in school or are an incoming college student. You will also need to complete in an essay competition on one of those few topics listed above.
One (1) award of $500 will be granted to the top essay submitted, and up to four other students may receive awards for their submissions. Funds may be used for tuition, academic projects, medical expenses, housing, living expenses, transportation, or other education-related costs. In addition to your essay, please send proof of enrollment and one letter to serve as an academic reference.
This scholarship was created by D'Vaughn Bell, an entrepreneur who is unique in his industry as a young black business owner.
Eligibility & Requirements
To apply for the scholarship, applicant must be a student currently enrolled at a college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in the United States. Eligibility of finalists will be verified before winners are selected.
- Applicant must choose one of the four essay topics listed above.
- Essays must be 1500 words, with the acception of an additional 25 words, but no less than 1500.
- The essay must be titled the same as the topic chosen.
- Must include at least 2 credible sources, properly cited (APA or MLA)
- Must be at least 95% original content (plagiarism is not accepted)
Description of Scholarship Funds
The selected first-prize winner will receive a one-time $500 educational scholarship. Funds are provided and issued by D'Vaughn Bell and made payable to the student. Additional prizes, up to four (4), may be issued at the discretion of D'Vaughn Bell.
Selection and Announcement of Winners
Winners will be selected by the team after the deadline. Applicants are judged on quality and thoughtfulness of submissions. The winners will be announced on or before the following month of June.

The letter must be recieved before funds are awarded. You do not need to be a United States citizen to apply. Graduate and undergraduate students enrolling or continuing at accredited universities are welcome to apply by the May 26 deadline.
After the application period is closed, we will review all submissions and decide on a winner on or around June 31. We will notify the winner by email.
